Bethel I.
Naab
January 14, 1927 – November 14, 2024
Bethel I. Naab, 97, of Taylor passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, Nebraska.
Bethel Irene Naab was born January 14, 1927, in Wood River, Nebraska to Donald and Myrtle (Hauke) Garrison. She received her early schooling at District #5 in Hall County, Nebraska. During the late 30's the family moved to a farm near Taylor, Nebraska and Bethel graduated from Taylor High School in 1945. Bethel taught for one year at Kent School in Loup County.
On January 31, 1947, Bethel was united in marriage to Glen Naab at Burwell, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Tim, Karma and Myrna. In the early 60's they moved to a farm in the Madison Square community, where they resided until Glen's death in 2007. Bethel was able to continue living on the family farm until August of 2024, when she moved to Grandview Assisted Living in Ord.
Bethel was a hard worker as many farm wives were. She was a wonderful cook who made many delicious meals for family gatherings. Every December for many years, neighbors, friends and family received gifts of peanut brittle from Bethel. She was a seamstress and made dresses for the girls and shirts for the guys. Bethel made many beautiful quilts for family and friends. She didn't know how exquisite her creations were and so near perfection.
Grandpa Toad and Grandma Bethel were wonderful grandparents. They attended rodeos in western Nebraska and ball games in eastern Nebraska. She sent many ice cream buckets of chocolate chip cookies home on the bus with the kids. Many hours were spent around the dining room table playing cards and board games.
Bethel attended the Taylor United Methodist Church, Madison Square Ladies Club and Farm Bureau meetings.
Left to hold so many good memories are her children, Tim (Teckla) of Burwell, Karma (Roy) Ragland of Red Cloud and Myrna (Roland) Pedersen of Columbus; grandchildren, Trenda (Zach) Fecht of Ashby, Tracy (Dustin) Ricker of Lusk, Wyoming, Ty Staman of Brady, Tom (Teri) of Prague, Joni (Jeremy) Ruth of Kearney, Stephani (Joe) Smaus of Prague, and Lucas Pedersen of Gladstone, Missouri; and great-grandchildren, Grady Fecht, Kyle Fecht, Brecken Ricker, Riley Ricker, Trypp Staman, Kiana Staman, Cole Johnson, Haley Johnson, Jamie Ruth, Hunter Ruth, Madison Smaus, Sam Smaus, and Brooklyn Smaus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; a grandson J.R. Naab; brothers Glen, Ralph, Roy, and Ben Garrison, and a sister, Donna Turner. Bethel was the last of her generation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Calamus Trinity Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate. Graveside Interment Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Madison Square Cemetery, northwest of Taylor, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. to service time.
Memorials are suggested to the Loup County Fire Department's Ambulance Fund.
