Margaret Jean Anderson, 94, of Burwell passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska.
Margaret Jean was born on July 14, 1930, in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Edward and Verge (Shannon) Fancher.
Margaret graduated from High School in Ainsworth, Nebraska. She attended Wayne State College and earned a two-year teaching certificate. She taught for one year at a rural school in Wayne County then moved to Burwell in 1951 and was the third-grade teacher for 6 years.
Margaret met Clayton Anderson in 1951, and the couple was united in marriage on June 4, 1952, at Ainsworth, Nebraska. They owned and operated the Gambles Store for 10 years.
In 1965, they drove to Pasadena, California to pick up their precious newly born adopted son, Mark. They had 8 happy years with Mark until he was suddenly and tragically taken to the Lord after being stricken with Leukemia and passed away on June 19, 1973.
In 1973, Margaret started working part time in the office at the sale barn. She worked there for 22 years and over the years, Margaret worked in their electrical business as Clayton's bookkeeper.
Margaret was a lifelong member of the Methodist church from when she became a member in 1941 until her passing.
Survivors include nieces, Pat (Ron) Schwieger and Terry (Steve) Donnell; nephews, Scott and Brian Chaffin; great-nieces, Kelli (Jason) Cole, Tracy (Lance) Schofield, Shannon (Casey) Hodges, and Leni (Dave) Sauer; great-nephew, Travis (Rae) Schwieger; great-great-nieces, Ana Cole, Maile Schwieger, Ella, Ameila and Lucy Hodges; and great-great-nephews, Forest Schofield, and David Schwieger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton; her son, Mark; siblings, Dorothy Fancher and Edna (Francis) Gallagher; brother-in- law, Homer Anderson; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Gerald) Chaffin and Carolie (Jim) Larson; nephew, Mike Gallagher; and great-niece, Dawn Schwieger.
Margaret's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Calamus Trinity Methodist Church in Burwell. Pastor Dennis Davenport will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Calamus Trinity Methodist Church.
