Marjorie Ellen Beat went home for Christmas to her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 19, 2024, at the age of 76.

God sent Margie into the world on January 25, 1948, to love not merely "with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth" (1 John 3:18).  From her first cry in a Columbus, Nebraska hospital to her final breath in her Burwell, Nebraska home, she filled the world with love.

Margie grew up in the Schuyler, Nebraska home of Everett and Viola Loseke with three brothers and three sisters.  Polka music often served as the background for Loseke family life, sparking Marg's lifelong love of music.  Music literally moved her.  She could not stop her shoulder or foot from moving to the beat of a good song.  Even when she could no longer rise from her hospice bed, she still tapped her toes in time with her favorite music.

Following in the footsteps of her older sisters, Marg worked at the Schuyler Boot Shop through high school, developing a delight in shoes and purses.  She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1966 and accepted a position at Dale's Electronic in Columbus, where she worked until she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1967.

In 1973, Marg's brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Pedersen, convinced her to join his Burwell dental staff.  She agreed to two years, which stretched to 51 because she fell in love…not with dental assisting, but with Burwell native Bob Beat.  Marg loved Bob in sickness and in health, nurturing him through years of health challenges.  As she began her own cancer battle, doctors asked about her hobbies.  She answered with no hesitation, "Caring for my husband."  Bob and Marg celebrated 50 years of marriage and loving the community together in November 2023.

Two daughters thrived through Marg's love.  She filled the lives of Jodi and Bobbi with laughter and made every effort to encourage them, whether it meant driving to Lincoln or crossing oceans to India.

Grandma Marg lavished love on her granddaughter, Esther.  She loved in countless ways, from buying an extra-large comfy chair they could snuggle in together to throwing grand tea parties.

Marg served customers at the Burwell Pharmacy for nearly 42 years, making everyone feel as a welcome friend.  She poured herself into her friends at the First Congregational United Church of Christ and on the Garfield County Historical Museum board as well as the facilities themselves, cleaning and organizing them as she did her own home.

Planning strategic garage sale and Junk Jaunt shopping routes became an act of love.  Marg delighted in discovering treasures that "hit her," but she never hesitated to snatch up an item that reminded her of someone and gift it to them.

God transformed pancreatic cancer into a masterpiece of love through Marg's faith in His unwavering goodness.  She loved others all her days, asking visitors to her sickbed if they needed anything to drink.  Above all, she accepted adversity from her heavenly Father, content with a life well-lived and the hope of eternal joy in His presence.

Marg's love lives on in her two daughters, Jodi and Nelson Jamir of Moscow, Idaho, and Bobbi Beat of Lincoln, Nebraska; her granddaughter, Esther Jamir; her sister, Mary Pedersen of Burwell, Nebraska; her brother, Don and Jackie Loseke of Nebraska City, Nebraska; her sister-in-law, Doris Loseke of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Beat; her parents, Everett and Viola Loseke; her brothers, Dick Loseke and Dennis and Jayne Loseke; her sisters, Marilyn and Dean Arps and Marti and Bill Woodin; and her brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Pedersen.

Mrs. Beat's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the First Congregational Church of Christ. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell, Nebraska.
