Paul D. Oxford, of Burwell passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska at the age of 85.
Paul Dwaine was born on December 11, 1939, at his grandmother's home in Custer County, Nebraska to Laurence W. and Marjorie (Glendy) Oxford. He graduated from Oconto High School in 1958, then attended Barber School in Iowa.
On August 19, 1962, Paul and Earla Mae Grieser were united in marriage at Broken Bow, Nebraska. In 1966 the couple settled in Burwell, Nebraska. Paul operated Paul's Barber Shop for 50 years, retiring in 2009.
Paul was a dedicated member of the Burwell Baptist Church and served on the Burwell Elementary School and Burwell High School Boards for a total 28 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing and fishing daily after work; and coached many baseball teams. Paul was a musician who played the guitar and sang in the church choir and at local events.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Earla of Burwell; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Jeff and Klo Oxford of Lincoln, James and Kathie Oxford of Layton, Utah and Josie Oxford of Tuscan, Arizona; nine grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; a brother Clayton Oxford of Oconto and a sister and brother-in-law, Ferrall and Gary Fitch of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joe Lamoine; and three brothers, Larry Dean, Rollie J. and Edgar Lynn Oxford.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Baptist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Pastors Joel Wentworth and Ben Burris will officiate. Interment will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Still Waters Funeral Parlor.
Memorials are suggested to Burwell Baptist Church Youth Group or Burwell Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
