"Sandy" Lech
February 10, 1948 – January 16, 2026
Sandra K. "Sandy" Lech, of rural Burwell, Nebraska passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 77.
Sandra Kay was born on February 10, 1948, in Burwell, Nebraska to Clifford and Evelyn (Barta) McBride.
Sandra was united in marriage to Bernard "Bernie" Lech on October 7, 1967. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage.
Sandra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found great joy in quilting, antiquing with her best friend, Barb, yard work, and spending time with her family. She especially loved following her grandchildren to their sporting events and was one of their biggest supporters, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the pride and joy of her life.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Bernie Lech of Burwell; a daughter, Kristine and Brett Warren of Stonewall, Texas; two sons, Daniel "Boone" and Ann Lech of Burwell and John Lech of Farwell; a sister, Phyllis and Doug Barker of Wood River; eight grandchildren, Brennen and Jamie Lech of Burwell, Paiton and Nicole Lech of Ord, Jacob and Gracie Lech of Burwell, Cali and Shay Weber of Stavanger, Norway, Regan and Carl Mundt of Central City, Josh Warren of Topeka Kansas, Matt Lech of Farwell and Zach Lech of Farwell; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Evelyn McBride; her parents-in-law, Charlie and Josephine Lech; her brother, Gary McBride; and two sisters, Doris McBride and Lois Casteel.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Burwell. Pastor Alan Petersen and Reverend Shelby Moock will officiate. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Still Waters Funeral Parlor. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
